GTMS FSAE-Australasia 2003

The images below were taken during GTMS' campaign at the FSAE-Australasia event held at Tailem Bend, Australia, December 4-7, 2003. The event was held on the Mitsubishi Proving Grounds. Tailem Bend is in the state of South Australia, some 75 miles outside of Adelaide.

GT Motorsports with Car 31 placed 1st out of 21 entrants (15 Australian teams, 3 U.S. teams, and one team from each of Sweden, Germany, and Japan). Car 31 is the developed version of Car 3 that garnered the team a 4th place finish in Detroit back in May of '03. We had to select a new number for the FSAE-A event as the top numbers were reserved for last year's FSAE-A finalists.

The conditions in Tailem Bend were quite different from what we've experienced in Detroit and in U.K. ; it was hot and dry. So dry, in fact, that blowing dust was a significant nuisance. Also, there were plenty of bush flies swarming around, posing an even greater nuisance than the dust.

The team would like to particularly thank Dr. Jean Lou Chameau, Provost, and Dr. Ward Winer, Chair of the Woodruff School. Their support made the team's participation in FSAE-Australasia possible.
